Welcome to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, a warm, inviting community committed to deepening Christian faith and fellowship.
St. Thomas Episcopal Church is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Scripture, tradition and reason are often described as the three cornerstones of our faith.
St. Thomas' mission is based on the Great Commission given by Jesus in Matthew 28: 18-20: To receive God's love inwardly, to show God's love outwardly, and to take God's love forward.
We invite you to experience the St. Thomas' promise.

Book Discussion Group Beginning Sept. 10th
St. Thomas' will offer a seven week discussion group on Eckhart Tolle's best-seller A New Earth. Although a few critics have wondered if the text is compatible with Christianity or biblical teachings, this discussion group will actually explore how similar Tolle's writing is to a number of Christian mystics as well as the numerous similarities that Tolle's viewpoint has in common with the Gospel of Christ. The group will be facilitated by Bettina Schuller and meet Wednesday evenings at 7:45 pm in the Guild Room (following the Supper, Song & Prayer service). For more information, contact Bettina at 895-8020 or bettinas@tampabay.rr.com.
NOOMA
The Nooma experience returns Sunday, September 7, at 9 am. Each week we begin with a 10-12 minute DVD followed by a time of discussion and prayer. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the topic presented and share their life stories in a small group setting. Nooma is a ministry of Rob Bell who uses dramatic visual and musical elements to present the gospel in a new, cutting edge format. Nooma will meet weekly and is open to all adults. The program will be facilitated by Bettina Schuller. It is our hope that these weekly times together will deepen your spiritual presence, strengthen your faith and cultivate supportive, life giving relationships.
St. Thomas Picture Directory
We are preparing to produce an updated pictorial directory of our church family. We will be compiling photos, accepting photo images, and taking new photos. Our plan is to have a new directory ready for delivery by December of this year. Walt Jaap and Miriam Williams will be the coordinators and they are encouraging others to join in the effort. For more information see the August Tidings or contact Walt at wjaap@tampabay.rr.com.
Seeker/Refresher/Confirmation Classes
In preparation for The Rt. Rev. Dabney Smith's coming to the parish on November 16, St. Thomas will offer classes on Thursday evenings from 7-8 pm from October 9 to November 13. The course will be "seeker-friendly" and will be intentionally responsive to the questions and curiosities of its participants. In addition to serving as the required instruction for those who wish to be confirmed at St. Thomas on November 16, this course will be valuable to any long-term members who may wish to brush-up on their Christian knowledge. All are welcome, regardless of where they may be on their path of faith. For more information, please contact the parish office.
